RAAF Base Williams, Point Cook - former Fire Training Area (FTA) Remediation Project

Defence has appointed a contractor to remediate the contamination within the formwe Fire Training Area (FTA) at RAAF Base Williams, Point Cook. The appointed contractor is EnviroPacific Services, who is a specialised remediation, soil treatment and civil construction contractor. Site establishment works and constuction of the treatment plant are now complete with full scale treatment works currently undeway. Since the commissioning of the plant and commencement of full scale treatment, more than 50% of impacted soils have been successfully treated. The soil remediation technology is called 'ex situ thermal desorption', and will remove contamination from the soil. Once remediated, treated soil will be placed back at the FTA and the site will be revegetated.
