Defence has established this web page to provide information to members of the public about the LBR and FSNON Projects occurring at the Larrakeyah Defence Precinct in Darwin. The Department of Defence is planning a combined $472 million upgrade of facilities at Larrakeyah Defence Precinct, and the construction of a new wharf and fuel farm to support naval operations in the North.
The Larrakeyah Barracks Redevelopment Project will address significant condition, capacity and compliance issues by providing reliable, flexible and sustainable infrastructure and facilities to address current deficiencies and provide for future growth population.
The FSNON project will address the significant shortcoming in existing operational support facilities at the commercial Darwin Port and provide a new wharf for berthing of RAN ships and a new ready use fuel storage facility which will support fueling vessels alongside amphibious ships, afloat support vessels surface combatants and specialist naval vessels, such as submarines, mine hunter coastal vessel and hydrographic ships.

The proposed development works, and upgrades are expected to commence in mid-2018, subject to Parliamentary approval, with construction works to be completed by 2023.
