Defence Instruction (General) Personnel 16-1, Health Care to Australian Defence Force Personnel defines the health care entitlements of serving personnel. Health care, in this context, encompasses a spectrum of services that extends from emergency care through to the provision of rehabilitation.

Members eligible for ADFRP

A member must be eligible for health care to be eligible for the ADF Rehabilitation Program (ADFRP). In addition, personnel must satisfy the eligibility criteria for rehabilitation as detailed in Annex A of Defence Instruction (General) Personnel 16-22, Australian Defence Force rehabilitation program.

Members not eligible for ADFRP

The management of personnel not eligible for ADFRP is detailed in Annex A of Defence Instruction (General) Personnel 16-22, Australian Defence Force rehabilitation program.

The Internet Icon Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Scheme (MRCS) provides rehabilitation, treatment and compensation for ADF members who suffer mental or physical injury or contract a disease as a result of service on or after 1 July 2004. It also provides compensation to their eligible dependants if their death is related to service on or after 1 July 2004, if they were entitled to maximum permanent impairment compensation, or, had been eligible for a Special Rate Disability Pension.
