DMO Materiel Graduate Scheme - Engineering (Aerospace)

It was the opportunity to work with a wide variety of advanced defence equipment that attracted me to this Pathway.
Like many who join a Pathway at Defence, Stephen nominated 'working in several different areas of Defence to understand how the wider organisation operates and get a clearer picture of where I would like my career to take me', as a highlight.
He said his rotations throughout the Defence Materiel Organisation had given him a solid foundation for a career in Defence, by building the beginnings of broad professional networks, introducing me to real world engineering applications, as well as giving me highly sought after experience in acquisition projects and sustainment programs
.
And it has paid off for Stephen, with his desire to work on 'advanced defence equipment' now a reality.
My current work involves accepting a new helicopter into service with the Australian Defence Force
, he said.
My experience in the Pathway allows me to conduct engineering tasks within the defence environment effectively and to make a real difference on a vital project for achieving future defence capability. I would not be as confident in my current role without the professional development I received in the DMO Pathway.
When asked if he had any tips for others looking to apply to this Pathway he said, Success lies in your ability to communicate effectively with uniformed, public service and contractor personnel, learn new concepts quickly and achieve results when faced with challenging circumstances
.
Stephen completed this Development Pathway in January 2012.
