Navy - Civilian Engineer Development Program

Clint Domine

I think this Development Pathway has provided me a solid platform for building my career within Defence. The variety of engineering skills I have obtained and my increased knowledge of maritime auxiliary systems and technical regulation will be beneficial for my career within Defence project and or technology management.

Clint said what appealed to him about undertaking this Development Pathway was the diverse range of engineering on offer such as mechanical, electrical, and naval architecture to name a few. The comprehensive rotation program was also appealing. The Pathway offers the graduate engineer the opportunity to gain a wide range of engineering skills and knowledge through the work itself and other professional development courses and assists with their career development.

He said, The best bits were learning and applying engineering on the job, participating in the navy survival at sea training program, and the engineering development courses.

Clint said he felt this Pathway had prepared him for his career because it provided me with the opportunity to learn and apply engineering skills and assisted me in deciding which areas in particular interest me.

He said his tip for those wanting to apply would be to familiarise yourself with the Navy, the operations, and the fleet. It would also be beneficial to have knowledge of the principles of technical regulation and compliance.

Clint completed this Development Pathway in 2009.
