As a graduate in this Pathway, you will evaluate information from a variety of classified and unclassified sources. Your ability to think critically and creatively to solve difficult problems is crucial. This will involve identifying patterns, trends, relationships and indicators to develop meaningful and useful intelligence for both senior government decision-makers and deployed Defence Force elements.

DSD Technical Analysts are creative and energetic people with a scientific or technical background who love to apply their strong analytic skills to investigate large and complex data sets, and to develop new methodologies of analysing and exploiting data for intelligence or information security purposes. At the heart of DSD’s missions are large volumes of communications data that need to be analysed and exploited.

We are particularly seeking people with qualifications in mathematics, statistics, data mining, bioinformatics, physics, information technology and other scientific or engineering disciplines,

DIO Technical Analysts use their specific technical and scientific knowledge to assess weapons systems and technologies, their impact on regional and global security and the threat they pose to Australian forces or interests. You will be exposed to cutting-edge technologies and research, and will work with other specialist technical intelligence professionals to hone and develop your understanding of complex technical issues and systems.

Your assessments on weapons and technological developments will shape Defence and whole-of-government decision making and help protect our deployed forces.
