- Tailored suite of training that covers leadership, technical, departmental and general skills, needed in the Australian Public Service.
- On-the-job and off-the-job training including a week-long Study Tour of Defence facilities outside of Canberra.
- In each rotation you will have real tasks and responsibilities, and be fully integrated into the work team to make sure you contribute to your full potential.
- People Stream graduates contribute to building, developing and sustaining Australian Defence Organisation’s “people capability”.
Defence seeks applicants who will not only contribute to the current strategic people environment, but will shape the people environment that will support our future workforce needs. We seek applicants who have passion, discretion, trust and respect for a highly diverse workforce; its strengths and weaknesses, desires and evasions.
The People Pathway takes 10-months to complete and consists of three rotations of three months each. The first of these is undertaken in Canberra, with the possibility of one in a regional area for those who want a further challenge. Rotations are offered across the entire Department, two will be undertaken in an area with a ‘people’ focus.
The four sub-streams within Human Resources we recruit for include Occupational Health and Safety; Workforce Planning; Training and Development or Human Resources Management. We are seeking graduates who have completed or are in their final year of a degree with any HR major, including Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations; Organisational Development, or Psychology for work in such areas as:
- Strategic planning of a complex business
- Organisational Development and Change
- Workforce Planning
- Workforce Intelligence
- Industrial Relations
- Talent Management
- Training and Development
- Cultural Change and Diversity
- Occupational Health and Safety
