Whilst logistics in the private sector has a heavy focus on transport, warehousing, distribution and manufacturing, a career as a logistician in the DMO delivers much more.
Logisticians within the DMO undertake a diverse range of activities in support of the Australian Defence Force. You will be involved in the acquisition of capital equipment assets and the sustainment throughout the in-service life of those assets, leading to disposal. Logistics business in DMO is driven by the defence objectives set by the Australian government and the operational requirements of the Australian Defence Force.
As a graduate on the 18 month Materiel Graduate Scheme, you will undertake three rotations (of 6 months), at various locations around Australia, to gain a broad perspective of logistics in DMO.
As a logistician in DMO, you will have unique opportunities to work on some of the biggest and most challenging projects in Australia, for example:
- Joint Strike Fighter for the Air Force;
- new helicopters for the Navy and Army;
- new patrol boats for the Navy;
- Air to Air Refuelling aircraft for the Air Force;
- artillery replacement for the Army;
- replacement heavyweight torpedo for the Navy.
Your work as a logistician within the DMO will be highly valued – the operational success of the ADF depends on us.
