Assessment Centres

The Assessment Centres are held in capital cities around Australia. The Assessment Centres are designed to represent best practice in fair and equitable selection techniques.

At the Assessment Centre candidates participate in a number of activities including; Interview, Group Exercise, Written Exercise and some Aptitude testing.


It is strongly recommended that candidates read 'What to expect at an Assessment Centre' before they attend.

Please remember if you are successful for the GDP you must do the following:

  • Relocate to Canberra by January 2013;
  • Be degree qualified by January 2013;
  • Present your academic credentials or transcript at interview or when requested;
  • Be prepared to undergo a security check;
  • Be prepared to undertake aptitude testing as part of the selection process; and
  • Undergo a medical assessment to determine fitness for permanent appointment to the Australian Public Service.

 

Attendance

Only those candidates that have been notified by email from the GDP Management Team are eligible to attend an Assessment Centre. The notification email contains information regarding scheduling yourself into an Assessment Centre day. Graduates can only schedule themselves in by clicking on the link included in this email.


If you are having difficulties using the on-line scheduling system, please contact us on 1800 020 303.

Graduates must arrive at the location by 8:30am. Expected completion will be 3.00pm. Morning tea and lunch will be provided. Graduates should not leave the Assessment Centre during this time.

What to bring

You will need to bring the following documentation to the Assessment Centre:

  • Photo Identification (Drivers Licence, Passport, or proof of age card or student ID);
  • One passport sized photograph;
  • Academic transcript (original or certified copy); and
  • Proof of Australian Citizenship (Australian Birth Certificate, or Citizenship papers, or Australian Passport).

 

Please Note: Your Australian Passport can act as both Photo Identification and Proof of Australian Citizenship.
