Welcome to the Rights and Responsibilities Directorate disAbility site.

Defence is committed to a fair and equitable workplace for all employees. The Department aims to provide an inclusive work place that enables all personnel to contribute to achieving Defence’s goals. This is only possible if all personnel are provided with a working environment that values and respects the diverse nature of the workforce, and recognises the differing levels of experience, skills and backgrounds of all personnel.

The nature of disability is widely misunderstood, and there exists a variety of misconceptions about disability and people with disability. In creating this site, Rights and Responsibilities aims to expel misconceptions about people with disability, and build the confidence of employees with disability, and their supervisors, both civilian and military.

This site features information for employees and supervisors about their rights and responsibilities, work being conducted in Defence to remove barriers for people with disability, and support available for all employees.

We encourage you to participate in the ongoing development of this site. Please provide us with your feedback on how to keep this site helpful, relevant and current.
