The Directorate of Alternative Resolutions and Equity is responsible for the provision of advice on equity related matters and the use of Alternative Dispute Resolution processes across Defence. The services provided by ARE:
- Provision of advice on unacceptable behaviour case management,
- Management of the Alternative Dispute Resolution program across Defence,
- Coordinating the provision of conflict coaching, mediation and group facilitation,
- Provision of advice on training in conflict resolution and unacceptable behaviour management,
- Coordination and training of the Defence Equity Network, and
- Fairness and Resolution Centres.
Trained and accredited impartial Defence Equity Advisers provide advise on the complaint management process while making choices available for individuals and managers to facilitate effective resolution.
Trained impartial Alternative Dispute Resolution Practitioners, both from within Defence and external service providers, facilitate the individual interventions. They manage the process so that it is fair for everyone.
