Talisman Saber 2007 is designed to train Australian and US Forces in planning and conducting Combined Task Force operations, which will help improve ADF/US combat readiness and interoperability.

Australia's strategic alliance with the US is a national asset, resulting in major strategic, political and economic benefits, as well as Australia's defence and intelligence capabilities, including in relation to terrorism, of which exercises such as TS07 is a critical part.

The Australian Defence Force (ADF) conducts a diverse range of military operations to support national interests. These include joint operations with the Navy, Army, Air Force and Special Forces, combined operations with allies and coalition partners, and engagement with armed forces of regional countries.

Activities vary from daily activities to larger biennial operations. All exercises are an important component of maintaining operational readiness and capability, including joint combined exercises, comprising all ADF services and foreign armed services.
