Exercise Talisman Saber - Black Hawks move in
S-70 Black Hawks of 171st Aviation Squadron are playing an important role on Exercise Talisman Saber 07. Providing critical Airborne Medical Evacuation (AME) capabilities to the Shoalwater Bay Training Area, the Black Hawks are maintained in a constant state of readiness by squadron mechanics and refuelers from 10 Force Support Battalion.
The Talisman Saber series of exercises are conducted biennially in Australia with the United States. Talisman Saber 2007 is designed to train Australian and US Forces in planning and conducting Combined Task Force operations, which will help improve ADF/US combat readiness and interoperability.
Australia's strategic alliance with the US is a national asset, resulting in major strategic, political and economic benefits. As well, Australia's defence and intelligence capabilities, including in relation to terrorism, also benefit from the critical role played by exercises such as TS07.
Talisman Saber 2007 focuses on operational level war fighting with training based on fictional scenarios that vary according to location between ground, air and marine activities in conjunction with simulated exercises.
