Special Interest

The Assistant Secretary Property Management (ASPM) is responsible for managing Defence’s real estate transactions including a range of activities such as management of indigenous land matters, specifically as they relate to native title, access by the resources sector for exploration and mining (including offshore) and foreign investment. These are collectively referred to as Special Interests (SI).

The SI business Process describes the steps involved in establishing, managing and maintaining SI arrangements. The SI business Process is made up of 4 key tasks, these are:

  • Create Case
  • Approval
  • Create Contract
  • Contract Management

SIs are grouped by the following types, these are:

  • Request for Information (RFI)
    • Native Title (NT)
    • Offshore Petroleum (OP)
    • Foreign Investment (FIRB)
    • Submarine Cabling (SC)
  • Mineral Exploration and Extraction (MNG)
