Contamination

Important Information

DEFRAM (564/2018) details how to access relevant guidance that was contained in the former Defence Contamination Directives (DCD’s) which have now been superceded and replaced.

On behalf of the Commonwealth, Defence manages one of the largest estate portfolios in Australia. Past industrial and military activities and practices on the Defence estate has resulted in contamination at a number of these properties.

The Defence Contamination Management Manual (DCMM), prepared by the Engineering & Environment Branch (E&E), Directorate of Contamination Assessment Remediation & Management (DCARM), contains the guidance required to comply with the Defence Environmental Strategy (2016-2036) and to achieve Strategic Aim 3 – “Defence will minimise future pollution risks and manage existing contamination risks”.

The Manual, Swimlanes, and Annexes, as well as other references can be found in the Contamination - Implementation and Operation section.
