Living and Working in Canberra
With a population of about 300,000 people, Canberra has excellent facilities and services for its size. Canberra is modern and pollution free, with none of the peak-hour traffic problems common to other cities. It is a two-hour drive to beaches and snowfields and a three-hour drive to Sydney.

Social Network of Graduates (SnoG)

SNoG organise social events which assist graduates meet people across the whole public service. You can find out more on their website:
Graduate Social Committee (GSC)
The Graduate Social Committee (GSC) helps the participants of the Program settle in to life in Defence and, for many, to life in Canberra. The GSC is comprised of volunteers from the previous year's program. Members of the GSC are allocated new graduates along similar lines to the more formal mentor system. Support activities undertaken by the GSC include meeting graduates when they arrive at Canberra airport; organising social functions before, during and after the Program; and being available to discuss any issues that Program participants may feel more comfortable talking about with recent graduates. The GSC also produces a Hints and Tips Guide for newcomers, which answers a lot of the questions graduates may have about living and working in Canberra.
