Overview

Welcome to the Career Transition Assistance Scheme Web Site.

The purpose of this web site is to help you with the many aspects of the transition to civilian life from the ADF. This web site is only one means of providing advice and details on who to contact. More information is provided in the respective segments.

The site is broken into sections that cover the different components of the transition process.

Career Transition

This contains a checklist of some of the actions you should take to access your entitlements during discharge. In this section, issues you need to consider on both the personal and employment fronts are also covered. These include information on the various entitlements that arise during the discharge process and the schedule for ADF Transition Seminars.

ADF Transitions

The transition process can be very involved, and it is sometimes difficult to navigate successfully. This Section contains information to help you through the discharge process and provide details on the information sources available. It applies to both medical and voluntary transitions.

Links

This segment contains links to other Government and Defence sites relevant to the discharge process, which can also be accessed through the home page ‘Links’ button. Alternatively, many links will be included in the body of information within the web site itself. For example in the ADF Transition Handbook, which is in the Career Transition Section, many of the entitlements you should investigate are mentioned. Where there is information contained within another web page or document, a link to that reference is accessed by clicking on the words coloured like this.

Financial

Knowing the value of your military employment is very useful as it allows you to assess the equivalent remuneration package outside the ADF. To assist you in this area a link to the DEFWEB Financial Value of Employment in Defence site is provided. This Section also contains a link to the DEFWEB site that provides general information on financial management, including budgeting, insurance and loans.

Job Search

This will incorporate tools to assist you in searching for employment outside the ADF, such as information on job seeking techniques and resume writing. Relevant articles about the Career Transition Industry and the resettlement process will also be available.

This Intranet site has been developed to assist you in the process of separating from the ADF. We can only be sure that we are meeting this aim if we get feedback. Please forward any suggestions for improvements to the CTAS Web Master
