Posted to North America? (back to top)
For those posted to or contemplating a posting to North America, the "Pers Services" area of the Australian Defence Staff (Washington) site contains information that should be consulted, in particular the following two booklets: ADS(W) Policy Guidance (a straightforward guide for your posting to the USA or Canada), and Heads Up USA & Canada (an Aussie's Guide to Living in the USA and Canada).
ADS(W) Policy Guidance
This booklet derives its policy content from the Pay and Conditions Manual (PACMAN), which is the authority for conditions of service related to overseas postings. The booklet should be used as a guide for general information only. If you require further clarification regarding conditions of service, you should consult the appropriate PACMAN reference.
Heads Up USA & Canada
This booklet provides useful and interesting information about living in the USA and Canada to help you and your family adjust quickly to living in a new country. The information will augment the regional guide for the location of your posting.
For those with a posting order, details of the ID and password needed to enter this site will be provided in the welcome e-mail sent by their allocated ADS(W) Administrative Officer. Those contemplating a posting can obtain the login details by following the instructions on the "Pers Services" welcome page.
