The Defence Home Ownership Assistance Scheme

 

The Defence Home Ownership Assistance Scheme Act 2008 (DHOAS Act) came into effect from 1 July 2008. From this date, the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) as the DHOAS Scheme Administrator became responsible for the day-to-day operation of the scheme and is required to provide ADF members with advice on issues relating to eligibility and entitlement. As a consequence of the transfer of responsibility to DVA, the content previously contained on this website has been removed and is no longer accessible. ADF members wishing to obtain further information on the DHOAS can use the following web address to access the DVA DHOAS website:

Breaking News - Amendment to the Defence Home Ownership Assistance Scheme Act 2008

 

The Defence Legislation Amendment Bill (No.1) 2009, passed through Parliament on 18 June 2009 and received Royal Assent on 24 June 2009, enacts amendments to the Defence Home Ownership Assistance Scheme Act 2008 to correct a number of unintended outcomes and improve the administration of the Defence Home Ownership Assistance Scheme (DHOAS).

 

The changes  impact on the:

 

The amendments will not be retrospective, and do not effect a member’s entitlements in respect of a subsidy certificate issued before 22 July 2009.
