A member may be granted
short absence from their place of duty for time outside normal working hours. See: Chapter 1 Part 3 Division
1 clause 1.3.46 for guidance on 'normal working hours' in the ADF. Note: The times when members are not required for duty are normally identified in unit standing orders or shift rosters. |

A member is to be granted short absence for a weekend or public holiday, or for part of that period, if they meet either of these conditions. |

a. |
They are not required for
duty on that weekend or public holiday, or a part of it. |
|
|
|
b. |
They are not under a
restriction imposed by a Service authority. |
|
|

A member who is not
required at their place of duty for a period outside normal working hours is
also to be granted short absence for that period. It may be an overnight
period. Example: A member is
granted short absence for a weekend. They are not required for duty on Sunday
night. They may be granted short absence until they are required to be on
duty on Monday morning. |
