4.10.2   Overview

 

A range of travelling allowances assist members with the costs of travelling on duty in Australia.

4.10.3   Travel card and travelling allowance

Travelling allowance and the travel card meets the costs of meals, accommodation and incidentals when a member travels on duty in Australia.

2.

The rate paid for accommodation depends on a member's rank and travel destination.

3.

The rate paid for meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner – varies by location and rank.

4.10.4   Vehicle allowance

1.

Vehicle allowance assists a member with the cost of driving a private vehicle for authorised travel in Australia.

2.

The allowance is calculated at a rate per kilometre of the authorised journey.

4.10.5   Aircraft allowance

1.

Aircraft allowance assists with the cost of flying a private aircraft for authorised travel in Australia.

2.

The amount of allowance is calculated through a formula involving distance, hourly cost and cruising speed.
