Persons who can make the decision under subclause 3.5.125.2, table item 3.b, on behalf of the CDF:

Director Navy People Career Management Agency

3.5.126   Calculation of the bonus amount

1.

The following table shows how to calculate an amount of completion bonus that a member is entitled to under this Division.

Step

Action

1.

Work out the number of calendar days in this period.

a. The period starts on the day the member is taken to start their undertaking to serve under this Division. (See: Subclause 3.5.121.2)

b. The period ends on the day before the date the member is entitled to be paid the completion bonus.

2.

Work out the number of days of ineffective service in the period in Step 1.

3.

Subtract the outcome of Step 2 from the outcome of Step 1.

4.

Divide the outcome of Step 3 by 1095. If the period includes 29 February, divide by 1096.

This represents the number of days in three calendar years.

5.

Multiply the outcome of Step 4 by an amount determined under subclause 3.

If the CDF has determined under subclause 4 that the member has changed roles since joining the scheme, the member's current role should be used.

6.

The member may be paid the outcome of Step 5.

Example: A member joins the bonus scheme on 15 October 2006. On joining, the member is authorised to be a Maintenance Manager. While in the bonus scheme the member is authorised to be a Flight Senior Maintenance Sailor. The member has 25 days of ineffective service but elects to extend his period in the scheme to make up three years.

Step

Action

1.

a. The member's period starts on 15 October 2006.

b. The member's period ends on 9 November 2009.

There are 1120 calendar days in the period.

2.

The member has 25 days of ineffective service in the period.

3.

1120 – 25 = 1095 days

4.

1095 divided by 1095 = 1

5.

As the member left the scheme an authorised Flight Senior Maintenance Sailor, subclause 3 provides the figure to be used in this step is $15,000.

1 x  $15,000 = $15,000

6.

The member may be paid $15,000.

3.

The following table shows the amounts to be used in Step 5 of the table in subclause 1.

Item

If the member's most recent role was a ...

the amount to be used is...

1.

Maintenance Quality Inspector – Aviation Technician Aircraft

$5,000.

2.

Maintenance Quality Inspector – Aviation Technician Avionics

3.

Maintenance Manager

$10,000.

4.

Flight Senior Maintenance Sailor

$15,000.

5.

4.

If a member has moved from one role to another, the CDF may make a new decision under paragraph 3.5.118.1.d.

See:  Clause 3.5.118, Members this Division applies to
