This Division covers the conditions of service for a member deployed for service on a non-warlike deployment for six months or longer. |

1. |
A person listed in the table below may grant help with travel on removal of the member's dependants to a location where extended family support is available. Approval may only be given if a person listed in the table below is satisfied that both these criteria are met. |

a. |
There is a compelling need for the member's dependants to access family support. |
|
|
b. |
The need must be for a significant amount of the member's absence. |
|
2. |
A person listed in the table below may grant the member travel before the deployment, and again on return. The travel must be to the location where family support is available. |

A member may only choose help with travel on a removal, once. |

The location of the family support would usually be within Australia. A member may request removal to family support in an overseas location. If the removal is granted, help is limited to travel between the home and the airport. The airport must be the Australian international terminal that is nearest the member's posting location that has flights to the overseas location. |

Help with relocation takes one of these three forms. |

insurance company to ensure they have adequate cover while they are away. |

Housing is not available if the member keeps the housing at the
posting location. |

b. |
When the member returns from deployment, housing assistance
continues to be provided in the personal location if the member has less than
six months to serve in their posting location. |

5. |
Dependants may also be moved to the member's posting location, if
they choose to return. Note:
The member's posting location may have changed. |

7. |
The member or their dependants may apply for the extended family
of the member or dependants to travel at Commonwealth expense when all these
conditions are met. |

a. |
The extended family member's travel is from their home location
to where the dependants are living and return. |
|
|
|
b. |
The purpose of the extended family member's travel is to give
family support to the member's dependants. |
|
|
|
c. |
The extended family member will stay with the dependants for a significant
period of the member's deployment. |
|
|
8. |
For subclause 7, the Commonwealth will pay the cost of travel for
the extended family members, up to the amount of normal Departmental liability
for travel by two extended family members from their home to the location
where the member's dependants live. |

Housing assistance is transferred to the new location. Exception: If the member has a suitable home at the location, the dependants will not be eligible for housing assistance there. They may be eligible for housing assistance if they cannot move into the house without breaching a lease made before the deployment. See: Chapter 7 Part 2 Suitable own home |

4. |
On the dependants' return to the posting location, their eligibility for housing assistance is explained in Chapter 7. It may depend on availability of suitable Service residences. Example: The Service residence they lived in before may have been given to another family. They may be given rent allowance to find a privately rented home. |

5. |
Dependants will also be moved back to the posting location. Note: The member's posting location may have changed. |
|
|
6. |

A full removal may be granted to a location where extended family support is available. |

Housing assistance is transferred to the new location. If a member has a suitable home at the new location, the dependants are expected to occupy that home. This is unless a leasing agreement made before the deployment prevents them from moving into the home. In that case, a person listed in the table below may approve housing assistance. See: Chapter 7, ADF housing and meals |

3. |
A second full removal may be granted, to the member's posting location. This will usually be taken on the member's return. |
|
4. |
Members are entitled to storage costs for one vehicle and one towable item. Members may sell them instead and seek reimbursement for loss on sale. See: Chapter 6 Part 3, Loss on sale of furniture, effects and vehicles |

5. |
