This Part deals with the conditions of service for APS employees performing duty in support of overseas ADF operations.

Operational area

The operational area mentioned for the operation in the table in Division 1 clause 17.10.10.

Period of duty

A period of duty overseas means the period starting and ending on the days described in these two paragraphs.

 

a. The period of duty begins on the day the employee starts duty in the operational area.

 

Exception: An employee may arrive in the operational area on a day observed locally as a weekend or public holiday. If they start duty on the next working day, the period of duty begins the day the employee arrives in the operational area.

 

b. The period of duty ends on the day the employee leaves the operational area.

 

Exception: An employee may depart from the operational area on a day observed locally as a weekend or public holiday. If the employee finished duty on the preceding working day, the period of duty ends on the day the employee departs from the operational area.
