General guidelines

1.

The unit adventurous training leader’s log book is used to record all adventurous training activities conducted by a unit adventurous training leader. This serves two purposes:

a.

It provides a means by which unit activities are certified by a member’s commanding officer or officer commanding in order that the adventurous training instructors’ allowance may be paid to the member.

b.

It provides a means by which the Army Adventurous Training Centre can monitor all activities conducted by unit adventurous training leaders so that the unit adventurous training leaders can have their qualifications recertified every two years.

2.

All activities are to be entered in the log book for certification purposes but only unit activities are eligible for payment of the allowance and need to be certified by the commanding officer or officer commanding.

3.

The unit adventurous training leader’s log book is to be returned to the Army Adventurous Training Centre for verification two years after receipt of an initial unit adventurous training leaders’ qualification and each subsequent two years after that.

4.

The unit adventurous training leader’s log book is an important document and every care should be taken to ensure that all detail entered is accurate and complete and that the log book is secured.

5.

A list of currently approved adventurous training activities is included in the front of the unit adventurous training leader’s log book. This list should be updated in accordance with amendments issued by the Army Adventurous Training Centre when new activities are added to the list.

Guidelines for unit adventurous training leaders

A record of qualifications held by the unit adventurous training leader is to be maintained in the front of the unit adventurous training leader’s log book.

Section 1 of the activity certification pro-forma is to be completed by the unit adventurous training leader at the completion of each activity and entries should be in sufficient detail to serve as a guide for planning future activities.
