Strategic allowance review
Background Pay related allowance reform is the next phase in the broader restructuring of ADF remuneration and seeks to provide a holistic remuneration package for military members. The completed reform will provide a foundation for contemporary remuneration into the future. Aim The review aims to: Examine what pay related allowances and retention/completion bonuses are and what they are paid for. Examine the relationship between salary, pay related allowances and retention/completion bonuses. Rationalise/restructure the current pay related allowances. Progress The Directorate of Military Salaries and Allowances – Policy (DMSA-P) is currently in consultation with the Services to develop the way ahead for the delivery of allowances to eligible members and prepare future submissions for the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal (DFRT). It is not anticipated the ADF would be in a position to make submissions to the DFRT before mid 2010.	Key Information
