Reserve Pay Case Outcomes
In August 2006 the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal
approved the following changes to Reserve pay and allowances:
- Introduction
of High Readiness Reserve Completion Bonus;
- Introduction
of High Readiness Reserve - Health Support Allowance Bonus;
- Introduction
of Active and Specialist - Health Support Allowance Bonus;
- Introduction
of Reserve Allowance;
- Removal
of the 10 to 15 percent discount applied to Reserve salary for all Reserves
who meet permanent force competencies. This will be applied to the
following categories of Reserves:
- All
Naval Reserve members (excluding trainees);
- All
Air Force Reserve members (excluding trainees);
- All
members of the High Readiness Reserve;
- All
members of Specialist Officer Career Structures (Doctors, Dentists,
Lawyers and Chaplains);
- All
members of Reserve only categories and trades; and
- All
Reservists who maintain the full suite of permanent force competencies
for their category or trade. This includes ex-permanent force and ex-High
Readiness Reserve members.
- Removal
of the discount applied to the salary of Specialist Officers (Doctors,
Dentists, Lawyers and Chaplains); and
- Reduction
of the discount applied to LTCOL(E) and above from
15% to 10% for those members who do not have the capacity to be deployed
to perform an identified function to meet Defence capability.
All these initiatives are provided under the current tax
exempt status applied to Reserve remuneration.
The ADF will include Reservists in future pay placement
proceedings before the Defence Force Remuneration Tribunal with a view to
achieving robust pay placement that would negate the requirement for
discounting the salary of those who do not have the capacity to be deployed to
perform an identified function to meet Defence capability.
