8.7 Dual entitlement

If you and your adult dependant are both members of the ADF, there may be times when you can both claim a condition. For some allowances, only one member can be paid the condition.

Who can be paid?

For many conditions, the two of you can jointly decide which one of you will get the condition. You should consider the effect this will have on your financial obligations. For example, it may affect child support payments. You may wish to check with a financial adviser before you choose.

If you do not make a choice, the condition will go to the member with the higher rank. If you are both the same rank it will go to the more senior member in the rank.

What conditions will be affected?

These conditions may be affected.
