Reimbursement for childcare
There are some ways Defence
may help you meet your childcare needs.
Childcare on removal
You can be given help with
the cost of providing childcare on a removal. (See 6.3,
Childcare on removal.)
Defence childcare centres
The Defence Employer
Sponsored Child Care Program consists of more than 40 long day care centres and
sponsored family day care places. In total, the program provides over 2,900
childcare places and more are planned.
The centres are designed to
meet State/Territory regulations for licensing and the requirements for
Childcare Benefit. Your local Defence Community Organisation office can provide
advice on what is available in your area.
Salary packaging
Members are able to salary
package their childcare fees at some Government employer-sponsored childcare
centres. (See 3.4,
Salary packaging).
Application to Reservists: No, except for Reservists on continuous
full-time service.
