Public holidays
As an ADF member you are
liable for duty at any time. You are usually released from duty when you are
not needed, for example on weekends and public holidays.
Defence gives members up to
13 public holidays a year, depending on where you are posted. This includes a
range of national holidays, state and local holidays, and Defence holidays.
ADF members usually take the same
public holidays as Defence APS employees, unless they are required to work. A
list of approved holidays is in the ADF Pay and Conditions Manual, Chapter 5, Annex
5.10.A.
These holidays will usually
be the ones other people in the local community observe, but they may be
different. They are most likely to be different when the holiday date falls on
the weekend and another day is substituted.
Application to Reservists: No, except for Reservists on continuous
full-time service.
