Short absence from duty
Short absence may be granted
if the authorised person believes it is appropriate. You do not have an
entitlement to short absence. You will not get it if another type of leave is
more suitable for the purpose of your absence. Short absence can be used to
give you time off to rest after you have worked long or unusual duty.
Short absence can also be
granted if you have compelling personal circumstances, and no other way of
attending to them. If you need more than a day it is not available if another
form of leave is suitable for the purpose.
How much do you get?
You may be granted up to
three consecutive working days, or longer in some cases. The absence is paid.
If the days are granted so
that you can rest, you should take them as soon as possible after your period
of difficult work has finished.
Application to Reservists: No, except for Reservists on continuous
full-time service.
