4.8 Special forces disability allowance
If you are posted to a designated special forces position and have completed specific training, you will receive special forces disability allowance. You may also be paid the allowance while on detachment to other units.
The allowance can change depending on where you are posted and what you are doing. This is only a summary. Full details are in the ADF Pay and Conditions Manual.
Who is eligible?
You may receive the allowance if you are in one of these groups.
· You are serving in the Special Air Service (SAS) Regiment.
· You are serving in the Tactical Assault Group (TAG).
· You are a commando.
· You are a Special Forces signaller in a specified Signals Squadron.
· You are a qualified TAG clearance diver.
· You are serving in the Incident Response Regiment.
· You are on designated special duty.
· You are a support member in Special Operations Command.
You cannot get any other disability allowance if you receive this allowance at the rate for these groups.
· A qualified or trainee commando.
· A qualified SAS member
· A qualified or trainee TAG clearance diver.
· Designated special duty (daily rate).
If you get this allowance you cannot get specialist operations allowance
(see 4.9).
Application to Reservists: Yes. Reservists are entitled to the allowance for the days that they train or participate in exercises or operations.
