4.4 Flying and flight duties allowance

 

Flying and flight duties allowances are paid to members with flying skills.

 

Flying allowance pays members for the difficulties and hardships of military flying.

Flight duties allowance is paid to members who do not get flying allowance but do flight duties in Service aircraft. 

 

Flying allowance

To get flying allowance you must meet both of these conditions.

 

·          You are liable to fly. When you are liable to fly, you are posted to a flying or flying related job.

·          You are in an employment category that requires flying qualification, experience or skill.

 

Flight duties allowance

To get flight duties allowance you must meet both of these conditions.

 

·          You perform flight duties on a Service aircraft.

·          You perform flight duties for the same length of time as the aircrew perform their duties on the aircraft.

 

Who is not paid it?

You will not be paid flying allowance if you are paid some other allowances.

 

·          Paratrooper allowance.

·          Some parts of special forces disability allowance.

·          Some parts of allowance for specialist operations.

 

Application to Reservists:  Reservists on continuous full-time service are entitled. Reservists on Reserve service may be paid flying allowance in these situations.

 

·          For days when they fly.

·          For days when they perform aircraft related work in an aircraft that they are rostered to fly in.

·          For days when they stand by to fly on search and rescue duties.
