3.3 What
if your salary is reduced?
If you are reduced in rank,
you will be paid the salary for your new rank. However, previous service at the
lower rank, or at a higher rank, may be taken into account when deciding your
level of pay in the scale at the lower rank.
What if the reduction is
for Service reasons?
If you are required for
Service reasons to transfer to a lower pay grade, you may be able to maintain
your salary for a set time. The time is fixed by the Defence to allow time for
retraining of affected members.
When might this happen?
This might be if your
employment category has been restructured or moved to a lower pay grade.
When won't this happen?
There are times when you will
not be able to maintain your salary.
·
If the move is your choice.
·
If the move is a result of disciplinary action or unsatisfactory
performance.
·
If you are a serving member who starts training, as a
trainee, so that you can go into for another employment category. Another form
of non-reduction provision may apply.
Application to Reservists: Yes, in certain circumstances approved by the
Tribunal.
