Defence Assisted Study Scheme
The Defence Assisted Study
Scheme (DASS) aims to improve study opportunities for all ADF members. The
scheme helps members to gain skills for their Defence job or their job when
they leave the ADF. You can use the scheme at any point during your
career.
You can use the DASS if you
are on continuous full-time service of 12 months or more.
The scheme has 3 levels.
·
Level 1 covers ADF-preferred courses with
a career development focus. There is a list of approved subjects and study
areas.
·
Level 2 covers courses relevant to
Defence needs and your job.
·
Level 3 covers courses that develop your
skills for your Defence job or courses that help you move into the civilian
workforce.
Under the DASS, you may get
time off work to attend courses. You may also get some money back to help with
your study costs, if you successfully complete your approved study.
Civil schooling
Civil schooling is an
alternative education scheme. Each Service runs its own scheme. Conditions that
apply depend on the rules of your Service's scheme.
Application to Reservists: You are eligible if you are on continuous full-time
service for 12 months or more. Reservists on Reserve service may also use
the scheme, but some limits apply.
