If you die while still a
serving member, your dependants or your estate may be paid for money you are
owed.
Who can be paid?
Payment will be to your
dependants. It may be shared between your dependants. If you have none, or if
it is more appropriate, payment may be made to your estate.
What money do they get?
The money consists of these payments.
·
Payment instead of long service leave.
·
Payment instead of recreation leave.
·
Payment instead of war service leave.
·
Compensation for loss or damage to
clothing or personal effects.
The amount paid is the amount
you would have been paid, if you had left the ADF in some other way.
Is that all they get?
Your
dependants may also have an entitlement to unpaid salary and allowances, or
compensation. You should also refer to 11.3,
Bereavement payment, and 6.7,
Removals and storage. See also Chapter
12, Superannuation.
