Radio Frequency Radiation Safety Officer (RFRSO) Course

Course outline: Radio frequency radiation hazards may exist in areas using communications equipment, radar installations, RF plastic welding and medical diathermy units. This intensive Course is designed to produce personnel competent in the measurement and evaluation of RF fields. Graduates from this course will be able to take on the role of Radio Frequency Radiation Safety Officer for their unit and will be able to provide advice on the effective management of personnel RF exposure.

The course includes both theoretical and practical components and is assessed through a practical and written exam.

Who is eligible for the course: Environmental Health or OHS personnel, or technical personnel who require in-depth knowledge of RF radiation safety.

Assessment: Competency will be based the marks gained during examinations in the classroom and a post course Radiofrequency Survey to be submitted within four weeks following completion of the formal academic phase at ADFA.

A high level of numeracy is assumed for participants on this course.

Duration: 5 days

Cost: Course fees are centrally funded. Participants' parent units are responsible for organising and paying for all costs associated with travel, accommodation and meals.
