Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) Defence Motorcycle Safety Awareness Program

 

1.Can Defence Civilians and Reservists participate in the program?

Yes! The DI(G)Pers 55-3 stipulates that All Defence employees are eligible for training.


2.Can I do a Superbike School course?

No! You can only use one of the seven contracted service providers as listed.


3.Can I do a Cornering and Braking course?

Initially the Cornering and Braking course was seen as a performance based activity, therefore it did not fit into the Safety Project. However several contractors have liaised closely with the project team and amended their product and rebadged it as an Advanced 2 course. This amended syllabus is allowed under the project.


4.Can I do a learner course under the program?

No! You must be a licensed rider.


5.Can learner riders participate in the program?

No! The DI(G)Pers 55-3 states that you must hold a Provisional Licence or better.


6.Can I do a road and off-road courses?

Yes! You are entitled to one course every twelve months. You can do a road course this year and an off road course next year.


7.Are bikes supplied or do I need to have my own?

The DI(G)Pers 55-3 states that you must supply your own motorcycle.


8.Can I do a motorcycle training course during work time?

Yes! The DI(G)Pers 55-3 states that you are deemed to be at work (on duty).


9.Can Quad bikes attend courses?

No! At present only two wheeled motorcycles are included.
