About Defence Rehabilitation and Compensation Policy (DRCP)

The Directorate of Compensation Policy provides support to Defence Groups and Services for the achievement of Priority 3 of the Defence Occupational Health and Safety Strategic Plan to reduce the impact of occupational injury, illness and disease.

The main roles and functions of the Directorate are:

  • Development and production of national rehabilitation, return to work and compensation policy and administrative guidance material affecting civilian and ADF personnel;
  • Management of the business relationship between Comcare and Defence for civilian claims management and workers' compensation premium arrangements;
  • Preparation and coordination of Ministerial representations and briefs on military compensation scheme arrangements and allied issues; and
  • Provision of direction and advice to Groups and Services on good practice, policy and procedures in rehabilitation and return to work.
  • Military Compensation & Rehabilitation Service (MCRS) Information and forms for military personnel about workers compensation and rehabilitation matters provided by the MCRS at the Department of Veterans' Affairs.
