Facilities
There are 13 centres you can holiday at in
New Zealand. All units are fully self-contained, with blankets, crockery, cooking
utensils, television, microwave, and most locations have gas BBQs available. All you need
to take with you is your own linen and food.
To keep expenses (and tariffs) down we ask
that you clean the unit prior to leaving. We do not employ custodians to clean the units
and reserve the right to recover any wages for additional cleaning necessary from tenants.
Cots and highchairs are available on
request from the Leave Centre Clerk.
Bookings
Bookings for Army Leave Centres can be made
over the phone - there are no forms to fill in (except when booking during ballot
periods). Your phone booking will be pencilled in, and an invoice sent to you. When
payments has been received your booking is confirmed and a receipt will be forwarded,
together with information on where to pick up the key and what you will need to take with
you. To speed up the process you can pay by credit card over the phone and all the
relevant information will be sent to you immediately.
Ballot Periods
To ensure units are allocated appropriately
during popular holiday periods a ballot is held for:
a. Easter Weekend
b. Queen's Birthday weekend
c. Labour weekend
d. Four weeks from the first Friday before
Christmas
Ballots are drawn 7 weeks prior to the
start of the holiday (12 weeks for the Christmas ballot), to allow personnel to book
alternative accommodation if their ballot application is unsuccessful. After a ballot has
been drawn any surplus accommodation is allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Ballot applications must be made in writing
- application forms are available from orderly rooms or on request from the Leave Centre
Clerk.
