Defence Management Review
The Minister for Defence, Hon Dr Brendan Nelson MP, released the report of the Defence Management Review [PDF, 1.04MB] on 5 April 2007. In doing so he announced the Government's agreement to the majority of the 53 recommendations.
The DMR was chaired by Ms Elizabeth Proust, and included as members Vice Admiral Chris Ritchie AO RANR, Mr John Azarias and Dr Alan Kallir. The DMR examined Defence decision making, business processes and information management processes and systems within Defence.
The report makes are 53 recommendations that address 4 key areas:-
- Accountability and governance
- Support to Ministers and Government
- People management
- Business system reform
The Minister has consulted with the Chief of the Defence Force and the Secretary and has agreed in full to 50 of the recommendations and in part to two. One recommendation was not agreed.
