Holdings Pty Ltd.
Established in Sydney in 1989, Ruslyn is a family owned company
employing just four people. The company has been working with Defence
as a Defence Recognised Supplier since 2005.
With the projected ramp-up in DMO procurement activity over the
next 10 to 15 years, Ruslyn is typical of enterprises that may play
a larger part in supplying to DMO during replacement or update to
a huge part of the ADF’s capabilities.
Being a small personalised company, the staff who run the company
know everything about their products, and are involved across the
board in assembly, packing and distribution. It also enables them
to maintain a high quality product, right through from research
and development, to manufacturing, to production.
Ruslyn are able to maintain an up close and personal relationship
with Defence and DMO and use this to their advantage by corresponding
personally with numerous areas in Defence to promote awareness of
their company and products.
The company’s mission is to supply high quality Mil spec,
ergonomic, hand held reeling devices to Worldwide Defence, Emergency
Services, Aerospace, Mining, Maritime, Broadcast, Energy, Geophysics
and other industries.
They are responsible for the manufacture and distribution of the
Ruslyn Cordwheel primarily to Defence and Emergency Services. The
reel is used by Army, Navy and Air Force in Signals, Battlespace
Communications, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Clearance Diving, Special
Operations and Aerospace. It is also currently being used in the
Middle East.
The Ruslyn Cordwheel is an ergonomic hand held, compact, lightweight
(785 grams), rugged and stackable reeling device for the efficient
handling and storage of cable, rope, hose, wire, chain and barrier
tape.
The reel is UV stabilised and recyclable impact resistant polypropylene
spool and a plastic handle. Cable can be collected or reeled out
quickly and efficiently allowing tangle free safe handling and storage.
Ruslyn Cordwheels are able to be stacked vertically or on their
sides for easy storage. The reel is a simple and easy to deploy
reeling device with the potential for many more applications. It
has been introduced into service and is open to the rest of the
deployable defence user community.
Current customers of the reel are Defence Materiel Organisation,
Rural Fire Service, State Emergency Service and Police and Rescue.
The targets for Ruslyn Holdings at present are the Australian Defence
Force and Emergency Services, as well as NATO member countries including
United States Department of Defense, and the United Kingdom Ministry
of Defence. Recently the company has been listed as a supplier to
the New Zealand Defence Force, with the first shipment of reels
being sent early November.
