Did you know that the annual budget of the Defence Materiel Organisation is bigger than that of the Snowy Mountains Scheme? Or that in its first year of prescription, DMO produced outcomes which met the financial targets set by government, and that we had our financial statements accepted by the Australian National Audit Office? Or that there was an average of 6,536 staff working in DMO during 2005-06? This and other information can be found in the latest
Defence Annual Report.
This year, DMO has presented its annual report as a separate volume, Volume 2 of the Defence Annual Report 2005-06. In the past, the DMO’s contribution was contained in a chapter within Defence’s report.
The DMO Volume is an achievement report on the approved major capital projects, our sustainment activity in support of the Australian Defence Force, and other DMO corporate strategic initiatives for 2005-06. It provides details on how DMO performed in relation to the targets set out in the Portfolio Budget Statements and revisions made in the Portfolio Additional Estimates Statements. This includes finances and budgets, outcome performance, operations and personnel issues.
The report is a useful tool if you’re looking for general reference information about DMO. It can be viewed in full at www.defence.gov.au/annualreports.
