Novare Services Pty Ltd has signed up to Defence Materiel Organisation’s Skilling Australia’s Defence Industry (SADI) program.
Novare is the third Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) and the 12th company to sign up for SADI funding. The growth in participation and interest from SMEs reflects the flexibility of the program to support both large and small programs that are tailored to meet the needs of each company.
According to SADI Program Deputy Director, David Purser, the interest from SMEs keen to join the program continues to grow.
‘We are currently working to conclude a number of new agreements with SMEs over the next few weeks and as a team we are continually working to improve the application process so as many defence companies as possible can take advantage of the SADI initiative,’ Mr Purser said.
SADI gives Novare the impetus and opportunity to train staff members in a Master of Engineering Science and Aerospace Engineering at the Australian Defence Force Academy.
Novare is an Australian-owned SME that specialises in aerospace and weapon system engineering and has been involved in over 100 Defence projects, including Air 5389 Stand-off Weapon, Sea 1429 Replacement Heavyweight Torpedo and Joint Project 2070 Lightweight ASW Torpedo. The company is also a participating member of the DMO Support Services panel.
Novare anticipates its upskilling initiatives will increase staff retention and improve its ability to recruit engineers from the civilian and military domains, which will in turn allow it to better support Defence with future projects.
The SADI initiative shares the responsibility for skills growth and development between industry and government and represents a win-win solution.

Novare Services Acquisition Business Manager, Lyndon Tilbrook and DMO Head Industry Division, Kerry Clarke sign on the dotted line as Deputy Director, SADI Program, Dave Purser watches another SADI contract sealed tight.
