Defence Capability Development Manual 2006

The Defence Capability Development Manual is available online - simply click on the title DCDM.

Chief of Capability Development Group (CDG), Lieutenant General David Hurley, has released the second edition of the Defence Capability Development Manual (DCDM). The DCDM 2006 has been developed with wide consultation across Defence and industry to reflect the evolving nature of capability development processes and to ensure that Defence and industry staff remain abreast of the latest developments in how the group conducts its core business.

The manual aims to articulate the complexity of capability development by providing concise yet comprehensive coverage of the main steps and features of these processes and of the considerations involved in assisting the development of the Government’s investment program for new Defence capability.

‘I encourage Defence and industry personnel alike to use the DCDM 2006 to keep abreast with capability development processes and to also utilise the newly estabilished DCDM helpdesk (DCDM.Helpdesk@defence.gov.au) to raise any questions or seek further guidance on the processes described in the manual,' Lieutenant General Hurley said.

Hard copies of the DCDM 2006 may be requested by emailing the helpdesk. The manual is also available in electronic format from the Capability Development Group internet site http://www.defence.gov.au/capability and click on the title DCDM.
