This is a custom designed grip that Control Devices
designed and build for use with a LAV Simulator. From the commencement
of the definition of requirements, development and sign-off of the
design, build and delivery occurred over a 3-4 month period.
As Australasia’s leading supplier of industrial,
aerospace and defence components, Control Devices is proud to support
the world’s quality engineering products. Their purpose is
to provide quality engineering products that improve their customers’
operational performance.
Control Devices engages in the delivery of advanced
defence and aerospace systems in the air, on land and at sea.
Control Devices provides control systems at the heart
of the Australian military operations as well as delivering service
and security solutions to Australia’s major law enforcement
agencies. Furthermore, Control Devices provides unrivalled technology
to the aerospace industries offering a comprehensive capability
in the field of control systems and airborne data systems.
Established in 1997, and now with offices in Sydney,
Auckland, Bangkok and Singapore, this allows Control Devices the
opportunity to be involved in many defence applications and defence
industry projects. With 5 staff in Australia, and 9 in total across
the region, they are a leader in engineering design and product
supply.
Control Devices does not deal directly with Defence,
but through a range of prime contractors, depending on the project
and requirements of the ADF. The main products that Control Devices
supply for Defence are control grips, displacement sensors, encoders,
joysticks, switches and tracker balls.
One of Control Devices strengths is building business
relationships to deliver cost effective and timely solutions and
outcomes for our customers. To this end, Control Devices has been
supporting the Naval Aviation System Program Office Royal Australian
Navy at HMAS Albatross for a number of years.
They use the CCADTS – Computer Controlled Air
Data Test Sets built by Penny & Giles Aerospace to enable the
ground support function – they have numerous units to support
the Sea King/ Seahawk Squadrons. Control Devices facilitated the
accreditation of Australia’s national airline carrier to enable
the performance of local repairs and calibrations for these units.
Previously, the units were returned to the UK for repair and calibration,
often taking many months at considerable cost.
The service does not just end once the product is
supplied – Control Devices offer training and support for
all their products, including ‘train the trainer’ right
through to all staff training.
Managing Director, Rick Dowel, said that there is
a range of expertise that their organisation can offer to Defence
and Defence Industry.
“Due to the expertise we have gained over the
last 11 years, we have gained an insight into what Defence requires
in the field. We can advise the suitability of a particular product,
depending on the requirements of the equipment it is being fitted
to, and the technical requirements of whether it is for land, sea
or air,” he said.
With customers and partners in more than 10 countries,
Control Devices has a strong position in the region and is proud
to support the world’s quality engineering products.
The defence industry defines itself by its ability
to perform in the most demanding of conditions. Where engineering
solutions require reliability, quality and innovation, Control Devices
is there.
