Putting in the groundwork with defence industry

LSD Industry Engagement event attendees were keen to handle the exhibits and ask questions at the Land 125 - Soldier Combat Systems display of enhanced equipment recently acquired for our troops on operation in Iraq. WO2 David Wetherspoon is on duty, answering their many questions.

DMO Land Systems Division (LSD) hosted an information session on August 19 for over eighty industry stakeholders. With a view to building stronger relationships with industry, approximately thirty DMO representatives participated in the event, including DMO CEO Dr Steve Gumley, DMO Industry Division Head Peter Croser and DMO Land Systems Head Colin Sharp.

The program comprised an information session on how to do business with LSD and gave prime companies and SMEs the opportunity to network during a luncheon. It also covered the wide range of equipment acquired and sustained by LSD.

There was a range of vehicles on display, including an ASLAV, a Bushmaster and a Manitou Heavy Duty Forklift, as well as Special Forces and Soldier Combat Systems equipment.

According to Australian Industry Defence Network National President Mr Mike Turner the networking was invaluable, particularly the open and frank interaction with DMO officers.
