Defence + Industry Conference 2006 is here: DMO Director Industry Relations, Lara de Masson and DMO Head Industry Division Kerry Clarke welcome delegates to the 2006 event.

Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) will host the 14th annual Defence + Industry Conference at the National Convention Centre in Canberra from 19 to 21 June 2006.

DMO Chief Executive Officer, Dr Stephen Gumley said the 2006 Conference will explore the broad theme of ‘Improving Industry Capacity and Performance- in the National Interest’, which is particularly relevant in the current defence environment of rapid Australian Defence Force (ADF) mobilisation and expansion.

‘This conference will bring together Australia ’s Defence and defence-related industry with the aim of providing practical guidance and advice for dealing with the Department of Defence and its prime contractors,’ he said.

‘The conference and its exposition offer an unrivalled networking opportunity, providing delegates with access to senior Department of Defence officials and senior executives from Australia’s biggest defence contractors.

‘I strongly recommend this conference to anyone from Defence or defence related industries that are doing business with, or intend to do business with the ADF,’ Dr Gumley said.

The conference will provide defence industry with the latest information about the government’s plans for Defence, with a focus on procurement priorities for the coming year, through a series of executive workshops and panel discussions.

Among the subjects to be discussed at the 2006 event are:

  • Defence 2015 and the new Defence Capability Plan
  • Capability development - challenges for industry
  • Managing an expanding procurement base
  • DMO’s Procurement Improvement Program
  • Program Management Office – leading project management reform in the DMO
  • Australian defence industry in the international market
  • Materiel projects and sustainment
  • Practical demonstration of Network Centric Warfare in the Australian Defence Forces
