Defence Minister the Hon Dr Brendan Nelson launched a monthly electronic newsletter in June, Defence Direct.

The publication summarises Defence issues and the Government's achievements and challenges.

Subscribers to the publication will receive the latest news on Australian Defence Force operations and the activities taking place in-country to support our operations.

Dr Nelson said the e-newsletter comes at a time when around 4,000 Australians are deployed on operations to protect our borders, help create stability in our region, and fight the War on Terror.

‘From my first few months as Defence Minister, I have formed the view that when it comes to planning and executing operations, the Australian Defence Force is as good as they come. And I also know that our combat forces are given excellent professional support by many thousands of dedicated civilians.’
