Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) will host the 15 th Annual Defence + Industry Conference from 20 to 23 August 2007 in Adelaide, South Australia.
The South Australian Government’s Defence Unit, headed by Air Vice-Marshal (Rtd) Roxley McLennan, is developing the support program for the Conference.
This Defence and industry event has a long history of bringing together the Australian Defence Organisation and defence industry to share and receive practical guidance and advice on defence procurement.
In 2006 the Defence + Industry Conference focused on improving industry capacity and performance in the national interest.
At the conference the Minister for Defence the Hon Dr Brendan Nelson released the 2006 to 2016 Defence Capability Plan.
Other major announcements at the 2006 conference included Government’s decision to acquire 34 Multi Role Helicopters to replace Navy’s Sea King and Army’s Black Hawk fleets; Dr Nelson initiating an industry policy review and releasing a discussion paper; and DMO Chief Executive Officer Dr Stephen Gumley announcing a restructure of DMO to include a new division to manage the acquisition and sustainment of helicopters.
The 2007 Defence + Industry event will combine a trade exhibition with the conference. In addition to the booths displaying Defence elements, that have been present in previous years, defence companies will also be able to exhibit. DMO is currently refining the details of the exhibition and considering a theme for the conference.
More detail on the 2007 event will be available early in the New Year through: www.defenceandindustry.gov.au
